Transfer rumours
News at last at Real Madrid,
with a couple of signings now confirmed. Curiously Pablo García is the
first of the new "Galacticos" to join, a man who declared himself an
"anti-madridista" a few months ago but who has since changed his tune.
García is the hard man of Spanish football, finishing top of the
"Villains" chart last season, and is expected to have a similar role to the one
played by Makelele a couple of seasons ago. The Osasuna midfielder's Uruguayan
colleague Diogo has also agreed terms, and he will be a useful cover for the
full back positions. Not so sure now though is the Robinho deal after his club
said he was not for sale, although that may just be a means of squeezing more
out of Madrid. Talks with Sergio Ramos have also gone a bit cold, as have
discussions with Inter Milan over the possible sale of Samuel. Solari has been
transferred to the Italian club though, and Figo is reportedly close to a move
to Liverpool, even though Gerrard now says he will be staying on. Other deals
involving Real Madrid? Take your pick, Reyes, Baptista, Owen, Guti etc. have
all been rumoured to be on the move, but we will have to wait and see.
