Zaragoza came from a goal
down to beat Dnipro 2-1 in a rain-soaked Romareda stadium, and they now have to
draw against Club Brugge in their last game to be sure of qualifying for the
next stage.
The visitors were looking
for a point to ensure top spot in the group, and they took the lead in only the
first minute when Yezerskyy beat Luis García following a free kick. But
Savio equalised with a free kick soon afterwards, and after that the Spaniards
were on top.
Alvaro brought a good save
out of Kernozenko with a header from a corner and had another effort cleared
off the line by a defender only a minute or so later, and Movilla and Savio
both hit the crossbar after the restart, the former with a free kick and the
latter with a shot from close up.
By now conditions were
virtually unplayable, and it looked as if the Ukrainians were heading for the
draw they wanted. But Generelo came on to win it for the locals with a strike
from 30 metres out with a quarter of an hour left on the clock, and when
Matiukhin was sent off for a second bookable offence near the end the three
points were in the bag. |
