Zaragoza made it through to
the league stage of the competition thanks to three late goals, although for
half an hour or so they appeared to be out against a battling Sigma Olomouc
side who turned around the Spaniards' single goal lead from the first leg.
Hudec levelled the tie for the Czech side only eleven minutes in to the game
with a diving header from a long free kick, and Kobylik made it two from the
penalty spot after keeper Luis García was ruled to have fouled Babnic.
Víctor Muñoz
immediately made a double change, bringing on Galletti and Javi Moreno, and it
was Moreno who found Soriano with twelve minutes to go for him to strike a shot
which took a slight deflection off a defender to wrong foot Vaniak. That gave
the visitors a slight lead, but it was all over two minutes later when Villa
broke free in front of goal, his shot heading just wide of the far post before
Hudic turned it past his keeper trying to clear.
Javi Moreno added a third
before the end, but by then Zaragoza were already through. It was a great
relief for the visiting fans, who had seen their side go out of the competition
at the first round in their last two appearances in 2000 and 2001. This time
they made it, and are at least assured of four more games in the new look
competition. |
