Sevilla celebrated their
return to Europe for the first time in nine years with a 2-0 win over
Portuguese league side Nacional from the Island of Madeira, a result which
should see them through to the league stage of the competition. It was not an
easy victory though against a team who were playing in Europe for the first
time in their history, and the Andalucians came under pressure before Baptista
finished off a move between Fernando Sales and Darío Silva to score the
first goal on the half hour mark. The introduction of Antonio López and
in particular Jesús Navas put the home side back in the driving seat,
but it was not until ten minutes from the end that young full back Sergio Ramos
made it two when he dived to head a free kick past Hilario. |
