Emmen. Spain are out of the
Youth World Cup after losing 1-3 to Argentina at the quarter final stage.
Iñaki Sáez's side could have gone behind early on when
Barcelona's Messi bent a free kick into the back of the net only to see the
strike disallowed for a positional offside. But soon afterwards Zabaleta got on
the end of a cross in from Cardozo to beat Biel Ribas and open the scoring.
Zaragoza's Zapater levelled
the scores just after the half hour mark with a strong shot after Llorente laid
back Molinero's cross, and for a few minutes the youngsters were on top. But
with twenty minutes to go Messi sent Oberman away for him to chip the keeper
and restore the lead, and two minutes later Messi himself danced through the
defence to make it three. Argentina were on their way to a semi-final meeting
with Brazil, and Spain were on their way home. |
