Spanish international squad
In preparation for next
month's double header in Valencia against Lithuania and Bosnia, Luis
Aragonés has called up 27 players for a get-together in Madrid next
week. The only uncapped player is Villarreal keeper Reina, who gets the nod
ahead of Barcelona's Víctor Valdés. With relation to the previous
squad for the matches against China and Serbia, David Navarro, Valerón
and Mista have been left out, and Xabi Alonso, Vicente, Baraja, David Villa,
Tamudo, Salgado and Romero have been recalled. The full list is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Casillas
(Real Madrid), Cañizares (Valencia), Reina (Villarreal);
Defenders: Del Horno (Athletic Bilbao), Antonio López and
Pablo (Atlético Madrid), Puyol (Barcelona), Juanito (Betis), Romero
(Deportivo), Michel Salgado (Real Madrid), Sergio Ramos (Sevilla), Marchena
(Valencia); Midfielders: Orbaiz (Athletic Bilbao), Xavi (Barcelona),
Joaquín (Betis), De la Peña (Espanyol), Luis García and
Xabi Alonso (Liverpool), Albelda, Baraja and Vicente (Valencia);
Forwards: Reyes (Arsenal), Fernando Torres (Atlético Madrid),
Luque (Deportivo), Tamudo (Espanyol), Raúl (Real Madrid), David Villa
(Zaragoza).
The coach announced that he
will be publishing his final squad for the two matches on Thursday 26th May.
