First division, day 29 rescheduled match
Osasuna 3 - Villarreal 2
A last minute goal from
substitute John Aloisi gave Osasuna their fifth win in a row and ensured
first division football at the Sadar stadium next season. The match had been
postponed from four weeks ago when Villarreal were obliged to play a
postponed UEFA cup match, and Pellegrini's side came in to the game needing a
point to move back up to the Champions' League spots. Marcos Senna got them off
to a best possible start when he caught out Elía with a long shot early
on, but Webó equalised before half time with a well taken goal and
Ortíz put the home side ahead midway through the second half when he
drilled the ball home after Reina could only push out a shot from the Camerooni
striker. Sorín got on the end of a Javi Venta free kick to level the
scores again, but Aloisi connected with a cross behind the defence from
Ortíz late on to give his side the three points. (28.04.05)
