Second division, day 34
Leaders Celta bounced
back after their surprise defeat the week before with a 0-1 victory against
promotion rivals Elche. The only goal came in the first minute when
Vryzas headed home a cross from Angel, but after that it took a first class
performance from keeper Pinto to maintain their lead. Fernando Vázquez's
side moved six points clear after second placed Cádiz could only
draw 0-0 at Poli Ejido, a result which at least takes them a point clear
of Alavés. Recreativo missed out on a chance to move up to the
top three though after losing 2-0 to Tenerife, Jesús
Vázquez and Keko getting the goals in the first half.
A disappointing result for
Valladolid as well, their 0-2 defeat at the hands of Real Murcia
leaving them ten points adrift of the top three. Both goals came in a three
minute period in the second half following free kicks, Acciari and Iván
Alonso getting their names on the scorecard. Sporting Gijón are
only a point behind Marcos Alonso's side after a 0-2 win at Ciudad
Murcia, a result which leaves the locals back in the relegation places.
Xerez gave up any hope of reaching the promotion spots though after they
could only draw 0-0 against Lleida.
Bottom club
Pontevedra kept their slim hopes of survival alive after beating
Nàstic 3-1, a win which takes them a point above Córdoba
and within six of safety. Málaga B are out of the bottom four
though after they beat relegation rivals Salamanca 1-2, leaving
Goikoetxea's side just a point away from the drop. Terrassa thought they
too were heading up the table out of the danger zone after they were leading
Almería going in to the final straight, but an injury time strike
from Rebosio made it 1-1 in the end. (24.04.05)
Alavés moved
ahead of their Basque neighbours Eibar up to third in the table after
coming from a goal down to beat them 1-2. David Silva had headed the locals
into the lead early on, but Bodipo equalised before the break and Nené
got the winner late in the second half. There was only one other match on
Saturday evening, Racing Ferrol making it four victories in a row after
winning 1-2 at Córdoba, a result which leaves the Andalusians
further down in the drop zone. (23.04.05) |
