Under 19 European championship qualifier

Spain 's under 19 side followed in the footsteps of their under 17 colleagues, failing to qualify for the European finals after losing 0-1 to France on home soil. Gines Meléndez's side came in to the last of their group games only needing to draw thanks to a better goal difference than their opponents. But they went behind early in the second half after a defensive mistake let in Gourcuff, and they were unable to get the goal they wanted even though the French team ended the game with nine men after Djeje and Gabaye were sent off.
