World Cup qualifier
Serbia Montenegro 0 - Spain 0
Spain took another
step towards qualifying for next year's World Cup when they held on to draw 0-0
against their main group rivals Serbia Montenegro. Both sides were wary
of each other at the beginning, and there was very little action until the
twentieth minute when Albelda blocked a shot from Osasuna striker Milosevic.
Joaquín tested Jevric for the first time on the half hour mark, and the
keeper did well to hold on to Del Horno's header from the resulting corner.
Krstajic and Djordjevic went close at the other end though before half time,
and the hosts should have gone ahead when Kezman fired a shot against the post
soon after the restart. Juanito and Fernando Torres put chances over the bar
from close up later in the second half, but Spain had done enough to get the
point they wanted, and at the half way stage of the competition they stay in
second place, just two points behind their opponents. (30.03.05)
