Spain's under 21 side are struggling to qualify for the European finals after falling to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Serbia Montenegro. The only goal of the game came on the quarter hour mark when Red Star striker Jankovic beat Riesgo with an overhead kick, and although Jarque, Sergio García and Iniesta all tried their luck later in the first half they were unable to find a way through a well disciplined defence. At the halfway stage of the competition Iñaki Sáez's side are five points adrift of leaders Belgium and four behind Serbia, and now need to win all their remaining games to have a real chance of making it to next year's finals.
