Northern
Ireland under-19 friendly tournament
Spain's under 19 squad took
part in a friendly tournament in Northern Ireland, which was set up to try out
the installations in the country prior to the finals of the European
championship next July. Spain drew their first match 0-0 with Scotland, but
lost 2-3 to tournament winners Ukraine before beating the hosts 0-2 in the last
match at Windsor Park, Belfast. The scorers against Ukraine were Osasuna's
Raúl and Real Madrid's Jurado, and Barcelona's Toni got both the goals
against the Irish side. Ginés Melendez's squad will be competing in the
final qualifying round next month in a four way mini-league with France,
Portugal and Israel, which is scheduled to take place in Spain. (24.02.05)
