Under 21 European championship qualifier
Spain 14 - San Marino 0
Spain wrote their
names into the record books with an amazing 14-0 win over minnows San
Marino. Iñaki Sáez's side went two up in the first ten
minutes with goals from David Silva and from Llorente, and by half time it was
already four, Vagnetti scoring in his own net and Llorente heading his second
on the stroke of half time. Sáez threw on Espanyol's Jonathan at the
break, and within five minutes he had added two more. Silva got a seventh
against a static defence and Jonathan completed his hat-trick before central
defender Jarque got in on the act. When Héctor Font got the tenth the
electronic scoreboard at Poli Ejido's ground couldn't cope, and Jarque added to
the misery of the visitors scoring two more for his own hat-trick. And there
was still time for substitute Jesús Navas to get another and for
Jonathan to take his own tally to four before the final whistle. (08.02.05)
