Champions' League, day 2
Barcelona
3 - Shakhtar Donetsk 0
A second victory for
Barcelona took them joint top of their group together with AC Milan.
Their opponents Shakhtar Donetsk put up a good fight, but a Deco strike
and a Ronaldinho penalty took the wind out of their sails, and Eto'o finished
things off in the last minute.
Werder
Bremen 2 - Valencia 1
The controversial sending
off of Marchena early in the second half was the key to Valencia losing
their Champions' League game to Werder Bremen. Vicente had given the
Spanish side the lead in the second minute, but Werder scored twice after
Valencia were reduced to ten men to turn the result around. (29.09.04)
Real
Madrid 4 - Roma 2
Real Madrid's
Raúl led from the front as the "Galacticos" fought back from two goals
down to beat Roma in their second group match. The team captain scored
two himself and won a penalty for Figo to get another in between, and Roberto
Carlos wrapped things up with a late strike.
Monaco 2
- Deportivo 0
Another disappointment for
Deportivo, who were beaten once again by their bogey team Monaco.
Ex Barcelona striker Saviola got one of the goals, leaving the Galicians bottom
of their group with only one point. (28.09.04) |
