Quarter finals, first leg

The four favourites Atlético, Athletic, Sevilla and Betis managed to avoid each other in the quarter final draw which took place today. The one remaining second division B side Gramanet were paired with Betis, and immediately agreed with their opponents to swap round the order and play the first leg match at home. Second division Valladolid, who knocked Real Madrid out of the last round, were rewarded with a tie against Athletic, and the fixture between Sevilla and Osasuna is likely to be declared high risk after clashes between players on the pitch in their last two meetings. Ties will be played over two legs on or around the 26th January and 2nd February, and the draw for the semi-finals will take place on 18th February. (21.01.05)
