Beat Miki from close up after good work by Hrman and Pjanovic.
Mallorca went through to the
fourth round thanks to the three goal lead from the first leg, although they
put in a disappointing performance in the return match and ended up losing to
their Russian opponents. Luis Aragonés's side have not won in the San
Moix in three months, and the manager decided to give a run out to some of his
reserve players to see if they fared any better.
Correa hit the bar in the
third minute and Toni González tested keeper Lomaia with a long shot,
and for a while it seemed that they were on the way to another easy win. But
Miki had to be at his best to save from Kalinichenko later in the half, and two
minutes before the break the visitors took the lead after a mistake by Nene,
Pjanovic setting up Samedov for him to beat the keeper from close range.
Despite the adverse
scoreline Aragonés decided to rest Eto'o at the break, bringing on
Perera who went close early on in the half. But the local fans started to get
restless as the game wore on, and when Hrman hit the bar eight minutes from the
end there were groans and whistles from the stands. In the end the Spaniards
went through, but not quite the way they wanted and the small crowd went home
with mixed feelings. |
