European
Under-17 Championship
France 2
- Spain 1
For the second year in a
row, Spain were beaten in the under 17 European final. A late goal gave
France a 2-1 victory and left Juan Santiesteban's side without the title
they wanted. The youngsters got off to the worst possible start, going behind
with only twenty seconds on the clock when Constant found the net after a cross
from Menez was deflected. Cesc hit the bar with a free kick later in the first
half and Piqué equalised after the break, heading home Carmona's corner.
But Nasri beat Adán with a long shot two minutes from the end to give
the hosts their second win over Spain in the competition. (15.05.04)
