International squads
Iñaki Sáez
named his 19 man squad today for Spain's friendly match against Denmark in
Gijon next Wednesday. After much speculation about the striker's role, the
manager has called up Málaga's Salva and Monaco's Morientes, as well as
recalling Fernando Torres who missed the last match against Peru. Barcelona's
Gabri and Real Madrid's Guti are also back in the squad, with Raúl Bravo
(Real Madrid), Xavi (Barcelona), Joaquín (Betis) and Tamudo (Espanyol)
all left out. The full squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Casillas
(Real Madrid), Cañizares (Valencia); Defenders: Gabri and
Puyol (Barcelona), Iván Helguera and Michel Salgado (Real Madrid),
Marchena (Valencia); Midfielders: Etxeberría (Athletic
Bilbao), Valerón (Deportivo), Guti (Real Madrid), Xabi Alonso (Real
Sociedad), Albelda, Baraja and Vicente (Valencia); Forwards:
Fernando Torres (Atlético Madrid), Luque (Deportivo), Salva
(Málaga), Morientes (Monaco), Raúl (Real Madrid).
The under 21 side will also
be playing a friendly against Denmark in León on Tuesday. The joint
managers have picked a squad similar to the side which played against Norway
last month, with Mallorca defender Iván Ramis making his debut at
international level.

Spain will be playing two
more friendly games before the Euro 2004 championship, starting with Italy away
