Transfer
news
A few last minute surprises
before the transfer window closed, but nothing really major. The last player to
sign from the first division was Movilla, who finally decided to move on loan
from Atlético to Zaragoza. Earlier in the week Zaragoza had signed Dani,
who had agreed terms to leave Barcelona a few days before. Espanyol had several
players in the offing, but eventually opted for ex Deportivo midfielder Hadji,
who had been plying his trade in England recently. Celta's new boss Radomir
Antic brought fellow countryman Sasha Ilic from Partizan Belgrade, and
Argentine youth international Pereyra became Mallorca's fourth signing of the
winter. Elsewhere Valladolid signed the man voted the player of the tournament
in the recent pre-Olympic qualifiers in South America, Paraguay's Figueredo,
and Sevilla decided to give a chance to the unemployed Magallanes, formerly of
Real Madrid and Racing amongst others, to try and fill the very large gap left
by Arsenal's flamboyant new signing, José Antonio Reyes. (02.02.04)
