Second
division, day 19
Numancia moved back
to the top of the table after they held Alavés to a 1-1 draw in
Vitoria. The Soria based side moved ahead of Levante on goal difference
after they were beaten 0-1 by Xerez. Meanwhile third placed Sporting
Gijon took advantage to close the gap on the top two to a single point
after a Bilic penalty gave them a 0-1 win against promotion rivals
Cádiz.
The story of the week though
was at Leganés, where Argentine businessman Daniel Grimback
walked out on the club only a few months after taking over, leaving them to an
uncertain fate. The Madrid based side bounced back though to win 1-2 against
bottom club Algeciras, who are now eight points away from safety after
the teams above them all picked up points.
Rayo Vallecano moved
out of the bottom four, leaving their place to Las Palmas, after two injury
time goals gave them a 2-3 win at Córdoba, and Málaga
B kept up their hopes of survival with a 1-0 win over Eibar.
Recreativo also moved away from the danger zone with a 3-0 win over
Elche, and Terrassa did likewise after a late goal gave them a
2-3 victory at Salamanca. (11.01.04)
All three games played on
Saturday ended in draws, with Getafe coming from two goals down to
square at 2-2 at home to Ciudad de Murcia. Both Canary Island sides drew
0-0, managerless Tenerife away at Almería, and Las
Palmas at home to Poli Ejido. (10.01.04) |
