Second
division, day 16
Leaders Numancia
moved a point clear of Levante after a 0-0 draw with Almería on
Sunday lunchtime. Last week's third placed side Sporting Gijon were
unable to take advantage though, falling 3-2 to Ciudad de Murcia, a
result which saves the head of manager Lillo. Elche and Getafe
cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw, and Leganés got their
first home win of the season, 2-1 against struggling Málaga B.
And Poli Ejido distanced themselves from the relegation spots with a 2-0
win over Recreativo. (14.12.03)
Levante moved up
level with leaders Numancia pending their game on Sunday with a 2-1 win over
Salamanca. Congo hit the winner a quarter of an hour from the end.
Alavés beat Rayo Vallecano 1-2 with a controversial last
goal from Quique De Lucas to close up on the promotion spots, and
Cádiz also stay in touch with a 0-2 win at Las Palmas, who
sacked their manager after the game. The other three matches played on Saturday
evening, Eibar v Tenerife, Xerez v Córdoba
and Terrassa v Algeciras, all ended in 0-0 draws.
