Second
division, day 14
Levante produced
another goal-less draw, this time against Recreativo Huelva, to hold on
to second spot above Almería on goal difference. The Valencia based side
have only let in four goals all season, whilst their opponents have now shared
the points ten times in fourteen games. The result leaves Numancia four points
clear at the top of the table.
The battle for the promotion
spots is hotting up though, with only three points separating six sides.
Eibar are a surprising fourth after beating Ciudad de Murcia 1-3
with two goals from Brit, and they are level with Cádiz, who drew
0-0 at Salamanca, and Alavés, who won 1-3 at Poli
Ejido. Sporting Gijon are just a point behind them after they too
won 1-3, at Leganés on Sunday lunchtime.
Rayo Vallecano
shouldn't be ruled out just yet though, and they made it three wins in a row
under new manager Jorge D'Alessandro after coming from a goal down to beat
Málaga B 2-1. Xerez's new coach Esteban Vigo is also
having early success, and his side climb out of the relegation spots after a
2-1 win over bottom club Algeciras, who had two men sent off.(30.11.03)
Numancia moved
further ahead at the top of the second division, coming from behind to win 2-1
win against Tenerife. Meanwhile Tenerife's neighbours Las Palmas
recovered from a goal down themselves to win 3-1 and end
Córdoba's run of four victories in a row. Third placed
Almería lost the chance to keep up with the leaders after
Elche came back with two late goals to draw 3-3, and Getafe moved
up to fifth in the table after a 1-2 win at struggling Terrassa.
