Second
division, day 9
Almería beat
Levante 1-0 to leapfrog over them and take second spot behind Numancia.
Francisco got the only goal near the end. Cádiz though lost their
first game at home, 1-2 to Leganés, and drop out of the top
three, and Alavés moved up to fifth after a last minute own goal
gave them a 1-0 win over Córdoba.
Mixed fortunes for the
Canary Island sides, with a second minute strike from Rubén giving
Las Palmas a 0-1 win at Málaga B, but a second half
penalty from Poli Ejido handing Tenerife a 0-1 defeat.
Sporting moved up to the top half of the table with a 3-0 win over
Xerez, and Getafe and Salamanca played out a 1-1 draw in
the other match on Sunday. (26.10.03)
Numancia moved to the
top of the table pending Sunday's games with a 2-0 win over Elche on
Saturday night. Fagiani and Miguel Pérez got the goals in the second
half. Eibar moved up to fifth after coming from behind to beat bottom
club Terrassa 3-1, and Algeciras saved a point with two goals in
the last four minutes in a 2-2 draw with Recreativo. (25.10.03)
Ciudad de Murcia beat
Rayo Vallecano 2-1 in a match brought forward to Friday night in view of
Real Murcia's match in the same stadium later in the weekend. All three goals
came in the second half after Rayo's Pablo Sanz was sent off, with the locals
opening the scoring when Güiza headed Manel's cross past Etxeberría
on the hour mark. Aguilar got a second from a Camuñas pass before
Idiakez scored a late consolation goal for the visitors. This was Ciudad's
first home win since winning promotion to the second division A, and leaves
Rayo manager Julen Lopetegui's job hanging on a thread. (24.10.03)
