Intertoto
Cup - semi-final, second leg
Villarreal 2 - FC Brno 0
Villarreal reached
one of the Intertoto cup finals for the second year running after beating FC
Brno in their second leg tie. Defending a 1-1 draw from the first leg, the
Spaniards were by far the superior side. However it was not until the second
minute of injury time that fans could breath a sigh of relief when substitute
Sonny Anderson scored his side's second goal. Jorge López had put the
locals in front midway through the first half when Belletti set him up. But the
Czech side came back after the break, and Dosek almost levelled the tie when he
hit the post on the hour mark. Brno were left with ten men though when Schuster
was sent off a few minutes later, and with the game coming to an end, Anderson
got clear to beat Belic and send his side through to a two leg final with
Holland's Heerenveen. (06.08.03) |
