Transfer
news
Last week we talked of old
faces returning, and more appeared this week. Simeone's return to
Atlético Madrid after six years is the most interesting though, and sets
up a fascinating re-encounter between the Argentine hard man and David Beckham,
who clashed in the World Cup five years ago (Beckham's famous sending off) and
could meet again in a Madrid derby. A guaranteed sell out. And then we were
presented with the news that Savio will be joining Zaragoza and Milosevic is
almost certain to join Celta, subject to a medical check. Talking of which,
Milito's move to Real Madrid has been put on hold pending further tests on his
bad knee.
The latest news though is
that Barcelona have won the war of attrition for Ronaldinho and he will be
signing a five year contract, a relief for new president Joan Laporta after
failing to tie up Beckham. Villarreal also confirmed that they are serious
about reaching the big time, and have tied up José Marí and
Coloccini from AC Milan to join Sonny Anderson. Valencia are also in the news
after their international goalkeeper Cañizares was linked with a
possible move to Arsenal. (19.07.03) |
