Málaga are the first
Spanish side through to the third round after defeating Poland's Amica Wronki
1-2 on a cold Tuesday night. Temperatures were three below zero, and for a few
minutes the Andalucians' ideas were frozen, with Gesior putting the home side
in front with a long shot which took a deflection off Roteta. The first leg had
started the same way, and that away goal two weeks ago momentarily put Amica in
front in the tie. However four minutes later Darío Silva levelled the
scores on the night, taking a pass from Josemi to beat Szamotulski with a low
shot.
Contreras had to be at his
best to keep out Gesior just before the break, and the Polish side could have
scored again in a period of intense pressure after the restart. But
Málaga weathered the storm, and a few minutes after Dely Valdés
wasted a good chance, the Austrian referee failed to spot Jikia handle the ball
in the penalty area. A double substitution by Peiró brought on Miguel
Angel and Juanito to restore control in midfield, and with twenty minutes to go
Musampa connected with a Darío Silva cross after a clever dummy by Dely
Valdés to put the Andalucian side through. |
