Málaga's European
inexperience showed through, and they made hard work of winning this match
against what should have been an easy opponent, the unknown Amica Wronki.
However the Polish side caught them out when Dawidowski's speculative shot
deflected off Krol past Contreras, an important away goal with only one minute
on the clock. A few minutes later Darío Silva headed wide with the goal
at his mercy, but Amica almost scored again when Krol got away on a rapid
breakaway only to shoot wide. Before the interval though Málaga drew
level, the newly blond Romero following up with a crisp header after
Darío Silva's free kick crashed against the crossbar.
Málaga piled on the
pressure as the visitors sat back, and after missing an easy chance, Dely
Valdés put his side into the lead heading in a cross from Manu. There
was a nervous moment or two, especially when a Burkhardt free kick hit the bar
near the end, although Litos should probably have scored a third goal in the
last minute. The return visit to Poland will not be easy, but Málaga
should have the quality to defend their lead and go through into the third
round draw. |
