With a two goal lead from
the first leg in Moldova, Betis manager Víctor Fernández decided
to rest most of his first choice players and give a run out to the rest of his
squad. Only Juanito, Arzu, Ito and Varela kept their places, with Gaspercic
getting a rare game in goal and Gastón Casas playing up front.
There was a brief moment of
concern early on when Pusca got free in front of goal but placed his header
wide. After that the home side sewed things up with strikes from Tais and Casas
before the half hour mark, and Joaquín, Capi and company could rest easy
on the bench knowing they would not be needed.
Belgian referee Eric Blareau
gave the visitors a hand a few minutes later giving a very dubious penalty
against Mingo which Cebotari converted, but Zimbru were not going to do anymore
and Betis go into the hat next Tuesday knowing the bookmakers had made them
favourites to reach next May's final, which will be in their home town of
Sevilla. |
