Copa del Rey, final

Recreativo Huelva 0 - Mallorca 3

Mallorca won the Copa del Rey for the first time in their history after defeating Recreativo Huelva 0-3. The hero of the night was Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o, who made a penalty and scored the other two goals before catching a plane to Paris to play the final of the FIFA Confederation cup the following day. The Balearic Island side took the lead in the twentieth minute with a Pandiani penalty after Loren fouled Eto'o in the area. And then a minute before the break Recre had a goal disallowed after substitute Xisco's header was ruled out for a foul on Poli. Eto'o wrapped things up after the break though, first of all taking Riera's pass to slide a shot under Luque and then rounding two defenders to score his side's third five minutes from the end. Mallorca qualify for the UEFA cup and will also play Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup in August as a result. (28.06.03)
