Second
division, day 30
Murcia and Albacete both
moved a little closer to promotion with single goal victories in their
respective games. Murcia beat Elche 1-0 on Saturday night thanks
to an early Tito strike, and Albacete won 0-1 at Poli Ejido, the
second division's top scorer Jesús Perera getting the only goal seven
minutes from the end. David Vidal's side stay two points above their rivals,
themselves now four points clear of Levante, who were held to a 0-0 draw
at home by fifth placed Xerez.
Zaragoza missed out
on the chance to move back into the top three when they were beaten 1-2 by
Las Palmas on Sunday lunchtime. The visitors surprised them with goals
by Tomás and Rubén, and although Kolmjenovic pulled one back they
still lost. It was a good day for the Canary Islanders sides, with
Tenerife beating Numancia 2-0 later in the day with two goals
from the delightfully named Kiko Ratón. tenerife and Las Palmas occupy
sixth and seventh spots respectively.
Three matches ended in 1-1
draws, starting with the game between Getafe and Almería
which kicked off on Sunday morning. Salamanca and Leganés
drew by the same result later on, as did Córdoba and Sporting
Gijon. All six are in a group of eleven sides only separated by five
points, ranging from ninth placed Sporting to nineteenth placed Almería.
Oviedo are looking
more and more like candidates for relegation, and they did themselves no
favours losing 1-2 to Eibar, who have now won their last three games.
The Asturians drop back to bottom spot after Racing Ferrol beat
Badajoz 2-0, their first win in eighteen games. Compostela
climbed away from the drop zone with a late 2-1 win over nine man
Terrassa, and if they can solve their financial problems they may well
yet survive. (06.04.03) |
