Second
division, day 29
With the season now just
over two thirds of the way through, the fight for the three promotion spots is
looking more and more like a four-horse race. Murcia moved two points
clear at the top of the table after a 0-2 away win at Numancia in the
last match of the weekend, and Albacete held on to second spot after
drawing 1-1 at Las Palmas on Saturday night. Levante improved
their chances with a good 0-2 win at Elche, and Zaragoza stayed a
point behind them in fourth place after beating Getafe 3-1.
There is now a seven point
gap with fifth spot, currently occupied by Xerez who beat
Córdoba 1-0. Tenerife were beaten 2-1 by Badajoz
and lose ground on the leaders, as do Poli Ejido who lost 2-0 away at
Leganés. Sporting Gijon put their financial problems
behind them for now and drew 1-1 with Salamanca, whose manager Jorge
D'Alessandro could soon be on his way.
Down at the bottom,
Racing Ferrol stay in last place after losing 2-1 at Terrassa.
They have now gone 17 games without a win. Almería and
Oviedo did themselves no favours with a 1-1 draw, and they both stay in
the bottom four, together with Badajoz. Compostela are only just above
Almería on goal difference after losing 2-1 at Eibar. (30.03.03)
