No big surprises in
Iñaki Sáez's squad for next Wednesday's friendly match in
Mallorca against Germany. The manager has picked five players from Real Madrid
and four from Valencia, and has recalled Deportivo's César and Real
Sociedad's Aranzábal. There is no place though for Xabi Alonso or for
Fernando Torres, both of whom are included in the under 21 team who play

Under 20

Spain won the 29th Atlantic
Cup, a four way international tournament which was played in the island of Gran
Canaria at the beginning of February. After defeating a Canary Island selection
3-0 in the first game, they went on to beat Slovakia 3-2 in the final. The
competition was a warm up for the under 20 World Cup which is due to be played
at the end of March in the United Arab Emirates. Spain have been drawn together
with Argentina, Uzbekistan and Mali in group B. (06.02.03)
Under 18
internationals
Spain's under 18 side
finished as winners of the Meridian cup, which was played in Egypt between
teams from Europe and Africa. Juan Santiesteban's side won all four of their
games, beating Mali 6-1, Burkina Faso 2-0, Nigeria 5-0 and Egypt 3-0.
Espanyol's Jonathan Soriano was the tournament's top scorer with six goals.
