Murcia took the
honorary title of winter champions after holding on to top spot with a 2-0 win
over Compostela. Zaragoza are still only a point behind them
though after an injury time goal by Yordi gave them a 0-1 win at
Salamanca. Albacete stay three points behind Levante in fourth
place after being held 1-1 against Eibar, and the Manchegans themselves
are three points ahead of a group of four teams headed by Elche, who
beat Las Palmas 3-2. Sporting beat struggling Badajoz 4-0,
Poli Ejido won 2-0 against their neighbours Almería and
Xerez were held to a 2-2 draw by Numancia. Finally
Córdoba's ten new winter signings are starting to have their
effect, and they won 3-0 over Getafe to move off bottom spot. (02.02.03)
A first half goal by
Mijatovic gave Levante a 1-0 win over Oviedo to ensure a top
three spot as the first half of the season comes to a close. Tenerife's
new manager David Amaral got off to a best possible start with a 4-0 victory
over Racing Ferrol, and Leganés kept up their ten match
unbeaten record after drawing 1-1 at home to Terrassa.
