First
division, day 12 postponed match
Real
Madrid 3 - Sevilla 0
Real Madrid moved up
to second place after a comfortable win over Sevilla in a match which
was postponed from day 12. The visitors got off to a lively start, but they
found themselves behind when Raúl got on the end of Figo's long cross to
head past Notario. Flavio made it two before the half hour mark, firing a long
shot wide of the keeper after the defence failed to clear, and only some good
saves by Notario prevented the European champions from extending their lead
before half time. Sevilla came out determined after the break, but were reduced
to ten men after Javi Navarro was sent off for stepping on Ronaldo after a
tackle. Even so Casillas was forced to make saves from Marcos Vales and Reyes
before Zidane put the result beyond doubt, finishing off after Notario could
only palm away a dangerous cross from Ronaldo. After that Del Bosque rested his
key players, already thinking about Sunday's game with Valencia. This was
Madrid's fourth win in a row, and they close up to within five points of
leaders Real Sociedad. (02.01.03) |
