Second
division, day 15
Leaders Zaragoza
crashed to a humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of Elche, ending their
run of ten games without defeat and six without letting in a goal. They still
top the table though ahead of Levante, who beat Córdoba
1-2 thanks to a late Congo goal to move back above Albacete. Other than that it
was a low scoring Sunday, with no less than four games ending 0-0 and the match
between Badajoz and Eibar finishing 1-1. Sporting Gijon
won their local derby against Oviedo 1-0 to leave their opponents firmly
anchored at the bottom of the table. (15.12.02)
Albacete moved back
into contention for the leadership with a 2-0 win over Racing Ferrol.
The third placed side raced into the lead with first half goals from Parri and
Jesús Parera to put pressure on Zaragoza and Levante pending Sunday's
games. Elsewhere the two Canary Island sides both won against on-form teams to
stop their slides down the table. Tenerife beat Poli Ejido 0-1
thanks to Paunovic's sixth goal of the season four minutes from the end, and
Las Palmas won 2-0 against Terrassa with goals from Reggi in the
first half and Baiano after the break. (14.12.02) |
