Second
division, day 12
An injury time goal by Congo
gave Levante a 2-2 draw against third placed Albacete to keep
them top of the table. Zaragoza move up to second though after winning
1-0 against hitherto undefeated Terrassa, and after eight games without
being beaten they must be firm favourites to return to the top flight.
Xerez lost 2-1 at Racing Ferrol and drop out of the promotion
spots, and Salamanca recorded their first home win since last April
after beating Las Palmas. A controversial penalty gave bottom club
Leganés a 0-1 win at Murcia, leaving the two Asturian
clubs Oviedo and Sporting Gijon down in the last two places.

Elche kept up their
eight month undefeated away record, beating Compostela 0-1. Serrano hit
the bar for the visitors in the first minute and Corredoira almost squeezed a
shot past Toni for the home side on the stroke of half time, but otherwise
there was little action until twenty minutes from the end when Compostela
captain Pinillos was sent off for a second bookable offence. Meca beat keeper
Tito from the resulting free kick for the winning goal, their first victory in
six games. The Gallicians stay in the bottom spots, and with the club still not
having settled back debts with their players they could be in for a turbulent
week.
Almería came
from behind to beat Eibar 2-1 and move, for 24 hours at least, out of
the relegation spots. After a dull first half, the visitors took the lead when
Miguel beat Barbero following a corner. However a quarter of an hour later
Juanlu equalised from close range, and three minutes from the end Bilic scored
the winner. It was a turn of fortune for the home side, who had thrown away
several games in the final minutes. (23.11.02) |
