The Spanish under 21 team demolished a poor Bulgaria side, running out 7-1 winners in this friendly match in Gaudix. Co-managers Santiesteban and Ufarte used the occasion to try out some new players, although with the exception of Reyes and Fernando Torres, most of their first choice players at least had a run out. Portillo scored twice in the first half, with Riera getting one in between, and Rubén Castro came on for the Real Madrid striker at half time and scored two himself. Bulgaria pulled one back immediately after the restart through Mladenov, but Todorov put through his own net to make it six and Jorge scored another in the last minute to finish things off. (19.11.02)
