Spanish
national squad
Iñaki Sáez
named his squad for Spain's friendly game with Bulgaria at Granada next
Wednesday. Atlético Madrid's José Mari timed his return to form
to perfection, and he is recalled following his hat-trick at the weekend.
Cañizares also makes his come back, replacing Contreras after captaining
Valencia to success in the Champions League. Sáez has also called up
three from Barcelona and five from Real Madrid only three days before the two
meet in the first "derby" match of the season, although Raúl is rested
after a bout of gastro-enteritis kept him out of the last couple of games. The
full squad is as follows:
Keepers: Casillas
(Real Madrid), Cañizares (Valencia)
Defenders: Puyol
(Barcelona), Capdevila (Deportivo), Raúl Bravo, Iván Helguera and
Salgado (Real Madrid), Marchena (Valencia)
Midfielders: Mendieta
and Xavi (Barcelona), Capi and Joaquín (Betis), Guti (Real Madrid),
Albelda, Baraja and Vicente (Valencia)
Forwards: José
Mari (Atlético Madrid), Diego Tristán (Deportivo)
