Spanish
under 21 internationals
Spain 1 - Northern Ireland
0
A fortunate own goal in
injury time gave Spain's youngsters an undeserved victory against Northern
Ireland. A team packed with first division players had most of the ball, but
could not find a way through a well ordered defence. Only Riera caused any
problems for Morris in the Irish goal, and the goal when it came began with his
free kick, a defender heading it back onto the bar and the rebound hitting
Capaldi on the side of the head and entering the net. The win keeps Spain's
hopes alive after they lost their opening game in Greece. (11.10.02)
