Transfer
news
It's all over, at least for
the next few months until the transfer window opens again in December. And what
an exciting last 24 hours we had. Of course the big news was Real Madrid's
signing of Ronaldo at the last hour at an agreed fee of 35 million plus a
player valued at 10 million who will join Inter Milan in December.
Several names were mentioned, depending on which news channel you listen to,
but the latest to be touted around were Solari or McManaman. Read our news
archive report for more details.
Ronaldo was not the only
player to move on the last day though, with around 30 transfers being
registered between the top two divisions. Racing Santander moved quickly after
losing their opening game to snap up Munitis, Diego Alonso and Messías,
and Depor decided to buy defender Pablo Amo as cover for the injured Andrade.
Djalmina will be saying goodbye though after deciding he wasn't going to play
much with Luque joining Tristán and Makaay up front, and Pandiani has
also moved on as part of the Luque deal with Mallorca.
Atlético Madrid
signed their fifth player from AC Milan, the ex Alavés right back
Contra, and Alavés themselves have made a shrewd signing in Adrian Ilie.
Ricardo's dream move to Manchester United came through, and Onopko has opted to
join Rayo Vallecano from Oviedo. The Asturians have replaced him with veterans
Engonga and Idiakez, a good pairing. Finally Barça decided not to sign a
striker in the end. The Morientes story we all know about, but now the rumour
is that the Jardel deal could be back on in the winter once he gets his EU
passport. Roll on Christmas. (03.09.02) |
