Málaga virtually
secured their place in the semi-final of the competition with a convincing
victory over a weak Belgian side. The Andalucians were almost at full strength,
missing only the injured Litos and their two Uruguayan internationals Romero
and Darío Silva, who were given a longer break after the World Cup, and
they dominated the game from the start.
Dely Valdés went
close twice before finally shooting low past keeper Herpoel with just over a
quarter of an hour gone, and Canabal added a second later in the half. The
Belgians came back at the start of the second half, but after Faye got himself
sent off their challenge ended. Dely Valdés wrapped things up a few
minutes from the end with his second of the night. |
