Zaragoza were never in
danger as they played out the formality of the second leg following their three
goal victory at home. Txetxu Rojo was taking no chances though after the club
were eliminated in the first round last year by Wisla Krakow under similar
circumstances, and although he made some changes to the starting line up, he
stuck to his usual central block of Láinez, Aguado, José Ignacio
and Jamelli. Any worries they had were allayed when Yordi headed them in front
in the first half, although Larsen levelled the scores from the penalty spot
before the break.
As time wore on in the
second half Zaragoza were unable to recover their lead, and Rojo brought on his
first choice wing forwards Juanele and Vellisca to try and open up the
troublesome defence. Either side could have scored, but with the fog closing in
and time running out, Jamelli rose to meet a cross from Aragón to give
the Spanish side a late victory on the night. Zaragoza will have a more
difficult opponent in the next round however, with a tie against Swiss side
Servette to come. |
