Milan 1 (Inzaghi); Ajax vs Liverpool. Valencia were the better side in both
games, but couldn´t score against Liverpool. Two late goals gave them
victory against Milan. Ajax won the tournament with 3-1 victory over Liverpool.

Switzerland during Real Madrid's warm up . Testimonial match for the retiring
Olympic president Juan Antonio Samaranch. An early goal from Raúl and a
late one from Guti gave Madrid a 1-2 victory over their rivals. Zidane played
his first 45 minutes for his new club. Played Nyonnaise on 29th, winning 1-12;

Tsartas transfer deal last season from Sevilla to AEK. Triangular tournament in
Athens. AEK won both 45 matches, including 1-0 vs Sevilla. Bolonia and Sevilla

Al Ahly 1 - 0 Real Madrid Were paid around 2 Mio to play
against the Egyptian champions in Cairo. Was billed in Egypt as the match of
the century, and crowd of around 100,000 turned out.. However Madrid were
disappointing, and the home side won with a second half goal from
Sunday. |

pre-season for Celta. The game was played in Compostela as the Balaidos pitch
was badly damaged in a recent pop concert. Celta won with second half goals
from Edu and new signing Maurice. |

Olympiakos 4 - 3 Celta Played against Greek side in El Pireo. New
signing Boban scored a brilliant goal on his debut, and Gustavo López
and Mostovoi got the others. Contreras scored an own goal though and Celta lost

Coruña Annual competition over 3 days. 9/8.
Depor vs Uruguay's Peñarol. Depor won 2-1, with first half goals from
Makaay and Pandiani. 10/8. Real Madrid vs Mexico's Cruz Azul. Match ended
1-1, with Raúl getting the equaliser after Figo missed a penalty and
Hierro got sent off. Madrid won the penalty shoot out 3-1, with Casillas saving
3 penalties. 11/8. Final: Depor vs Real Madrid. Depor came from behind to
win by 2-1. Figo got the first, with Makaay & Tristán scoring for
Depor. 3rd place play off: Peñarol 1-2 Cruz Azul. |

returns to Spain for Real Madrid's own tournament. With Zidane, Figo and
Roberto Carlos on international duty, Madrid lost the trophy for the first time
in 7 years. Vieri scored in the first half, and although Hierro levelled from a
penalty in the 80th minute, Adriano gave Inter victory in the last
minute. |

touring Belgium, Rayo returned to Vallecas for their squad presentation against
city rivals Atlético. New signing Arteaga opened the scoring for Rayo

game. Real won this one on merit though, their first preseason win in 7 games.

Villarreal won on penalties. Craioveanu and Xavi Gracia got Villarreal's goals
in the second half after Benja and Nino had given the home side a two goal lead
by half time. |

Gamper tournament, Barcelona FC Barcelona in-house trophy. Rivals were
Italian club Parma. Barça won 3-2. Saviola and Christanval scored in the
first half and substitute Alfonso gave them a three goal lead in what may be
his last game at the club. However two defensive errors let Parma back in the
game towards the end, with goals from Di Vaio and Cannavarro. Saviola dedicated
his goal to his late father, who died two weeks ago. |

overshadowed by the killing of Getafe player Sebas, accidentally shot by a
policeman in the early hours of Saturday morning after a fight broke out on a

Triangular tournament, Sevilla A game of three halves played
between Sevilla, Betis and Athletic Bilbao at the Olympic stadium in Sevilla.
Betis won the tournament thanks to a 1-0 victory over Bilbao, with a goal from
new boy Joao Tomas. Sevilla and Bilbao drew 0-0, as did Betis and Sevilla in
the last game, played in the early hours of the morning. |
