With the World Cup only
three months away, Camacho has named an interesting 19 man squad for next
week's friendly game with Holland. Two exciting youngsters, Bilbao's Tiko and
Capi from Betis have been included for their first caps, and Real Sociedad's De
Pedro and Deportivo's César and Sergio have all been recalled. Hierro
and Raúl also return after missing the friendly with Portugal through
injury. Out go Téllez, Sergi, Salgado, Xavi, Mendieta, Baraja, Munitis
and Tamudo, although all must be considered as candidates for the summer squad
as the manager tries to give everyone a run out before making his final
decision. The full squad is as follows:
Keepers: Casillas
(Real Madrid), Cañizares (Valencia).
Defenders: Pujol
(Barcelona), Juanfran (Celta), César (Deportivo), Nadal (Mallorca),
Hierro (Real Madrid), Curro Torres (Valencia).
Midfielders: Capi and
Joaquín (Betis), Tiko (Bilbao), Sergio and Valerón (Deportivo),
Iván Helguera (Real Madrid), De Pedro (Real Sociedad), Vicente
(Valencia).
Forwards: Diego
Tristán (Deportivo), Morientes and Raúl (Real Madrid).
The game will kick off at
20:30 next Wednesday night in Feyenoord's stadium in Rotterdam. Only one
friendly match remains, against Northern Ireland in mid-April, before Camacho
has to name his World Cup group of players. (22.03.02) |
