UEFA Cup - second round,
first leg
Legia Warsaw 1 - Valencia 1
A second half penalty from
Adrian Ilie was enough to give Valencia a valuable 1-1 draw in the first leg at
Legia Warsaw. The Polish side had taken the lead through Karwan in the tenth
minute, but Carew forced the spot kick to maintain Valencia's unbeaten record
this season.
Celta 3 - Slovan Liberec 1
Mostovoi came to the rescue
of Celta with a late hat-trick on a rainy night in Vigo against Slovan Liberec.
The Russian gave the home side the lead in the first half, but Edú put
through his own net after the break. However two more from the Tsar, the last
one right at the end, gave Celta a two goal advantage for the second leg.
Zaragoza 0 - Servette 0
Zaragoza put in another
disappointing performance, only managing a 0-0 draw against Swiss side
Servette. Txetxu Rojo put out a strong side, but they were unable to score, and
Servette were unlucky not to come away with a victory in the end as the home
fans booed their players off the pitch. (18.10.01) |
