Zaragoza incredibly lost this tie which they were leading by 5-1 with 45 minutes to go. After a 4-1 first leg in Zaragoza against the semi-amateur team, Juanma Lillo was confident of going through, and he rested key players, bringing in Aragón in midfield, with Peternac returning up front. After five minutes they extended their lead with a silly own goal by the Wisla defence, and during the rest of the first half they could have scored two or three more as their forwards constantly missed their chances.

At half time Wisla made three changes, and one of the new players Kelechi levelled the scores after a mistake by Juanmi, who turned the ball into his own net instead of out for a corner. There was more to come though, and within the next 10 minutes two more errors by the usually reliable keeper put the home team within a goal of the Spaniards. Vellisca could have ended it but his shot went over the bar, and with two minutes to go Frankowski scrambled the ball over the line. Lillo held his head in his hands (he probably will literally in a few days), and after Juanele missed a couple of chances in extra time, the game progressed to the penalty shoot out. Aragón, Acuña and Yordi scored but Juanele missed, and when José Ignacio put his shot over the bar they had lost 4-3. An unbelievable result, and the economic repercussions for Zaragoza, who just missed out on a Champions League place last season, could be important. More so their morale however, and they could be the first to change their manager this season.
