Spain's under 21 side were beaten for the first time in five years in an official competition when they lost by 2-1 to Austria in the European championships. Pablo Couñago put Spain into the lead in the tenth minute after a pass from Gallardo, but two goals from Linz either side of half time, the first from a dubious penalty, gave Austria victory.
