Sevilla increased their lead at the top of the second division with a laboured 1-0 victory against Albacete after Michel scored 15 minutes from time. Second and third placed teams Jaén and Levante both drew away, against Tenerife and Eibar respectively. Córdoba moved up to fourth after beating struggling Betis, who drop near the bottom of the table with only one win in six games. Atlético Madrid's new manager Marcos Alonso was in charge for his first game against Racing Ferrol. In front of over 50,000 fans, his new team could only draw 1-1 to stay in the bottom four.
