Celta took a two point lead
over Deportivo at the top of the first division after beating Espanyol by 1-0
on Sunday. Catanha scored the goal in the first half, and after recently
getting dual Spanish and Brazilian nationality, he could be in Camacho's squad
for Spain's World Cup qualifiers next month. Valencia moved up to fourth behind
Real Madrid after a 0-3 victory over Numancia. All three goals came in the
second half after Numancia's Soria was sent off before the break. Juan
Sánchez got the first two. A Dely Valdés goal for Málaga
kept Mallorca in last place, and Villarreal's new signing Arruabarrena gave his
side a 1-0 victory against Oviedo. Osasuna and Rayo Vallecano drew 2-2 in a
hard fought match. Rayo's Bolo got his seventh of the season from the penalty
spot. |
