In matches from week three
played on Saturday night, co-leaders Deportivo were held to a 1-1 draw by Real
Sociedad. Jankauskas gave the home side the lead early on and Depor equalised
through Pandiani. Loren and Pandiani were both sent off. Real Madrid join
Deportivo on seven points after thrashing Bilbao 4-1. Makeshift striker Guti
scored two and Roberto Carlos and Munitis added the others. Ezquerro got a
consolation goal in the last minute. Barça struggled to beat Racing
Santander, although an injury time goal from Overmars made the 3-1 result look
better. Kluivert scored the first two of the match and Espina pulled one back
from a free kick. Alavés took two goal lead at Zaragoza through Javi
Moreno and Desio, but Jamelli and Yordi pegged them back to 2-2. In the last
match of the day, Las Palmas and Valladolid drew 1-1. In the second division,
Atlético Madrid finally won their first match, Salva scoring twice as
they beat Compostela 2-0. Co-leaders Jaén were beaten 1-0 at
Córdoba. |
